Abstract #4

It was a travel day again in my world and I was searching for abstract textures. The day would take me from the beach to the mountains, across three states, and certainly in that transition over time and distance there was a picture. No telling how many other cool things I must have passed by today while I had this singular vision firmly planted in my mind.

Mid day, when I arrive in Seattle, I passed by a wall that had the texture I knew I was looking for. I had passed by this wall many times. Shot it a couple of times, but never really spent any time with it beyond a simple capture. Seemingly content to just shoot it, but never really doing anything with it. A different lens and a little more time found me feeling like today this wall might work. I put more effort into Photoshop than I normally do. Walking by this wall you would never know it was the sources of my capture, so in my limited world of photo manipulation that’s a big step.

Having an idea of what I want to shoot is one of my favorite spaces to be in. Having the chance to revisit familiar places is another. Along my travels today I took lots of pictures one following the other almost in a continuous stream of consciousness. As much as I tried today nothing came close to that crazy wall in the Seattle airport and finally taking the time to do something with it
