Thoughts and Prespective in Photography by Steve Mason
The Pointy End
In the world of boats it seems every part has a specific name. Mostly obscure words that have few meanings outside the maritime world.
When the exact name happens to escape you, at just the wrong time, the most obvious name sometimes seems to work best. In that instance the bow many times simply becomes – the pointy end.
Here the pointy ends takes on a new meaning. Not as a place to sit, but a graphic shape reflected in the receding water from the soft shoreline. The textural mud creating a wonderful contrast to the crisp edges of the waters reflection.
With so many pointy ends around my neighborhood, there is never a shortage of graphic and repeating shapes around me. My many daily trips off the boat and back almost always leading me to something new visually.
