A city block filled with red flags adorned with a single yellow star. The slight breeze pulls on thin fabric as hundreds march in unison to independence. Loudspeakers blast revolutionary rhetoric under the watchful eye of uniformed militia.

Witnessing Communism on display in celebration of the defeat of American imperialism over 45 years ago is a sobering sight.

The images and sounds of that day remind me of why I love to travel. Why I always have a camera to accompany my memories.
