The Little Things

You can leave a country, fly away washing off the dirt and sweat with a single shower. Launder the clothes and settle the stomach. Fall into a normal sleep cycle and enjoy all the favorite foods you loved so dearly while you were away.

Yet even a week later you can never really leave the country behind that easily. It’s the parts that stick with you still days on that remain the most cherished. These little things that stay around haunting you, constantly reminding you that home is not the only place there is. A whole other world awaits that never reveals itself until you leave. Really leave for an extended time.

One of the beauties of travel is caring those little things forward once you get home. Like a small stone you gather on a black sand beach, a cherished phrase in the local language or simply a picture you capture as the sun fades over an undiscovered place.
