Nightcrawler

Evening walks with a camera, no matter the country, often find me out late into the night. There is an appeal to shooting deep in the night that holds me. The absence of daylight pushes me to discover new places affording any light source. I wander from light to light like an insect attracted to a bare bulb. Heavy shadows growing away from every source – a natural vignette around every scene.

Here the evening was near its end for me. A single boy tends to an empty sidewalk. Graffiti paint on the wall offering a stark contrast to the amber glow projected onto his young face as he waits a final patron. Briefly sitting for a drink and a picture I slip back into the darkness.
