In every situation, you eventually need something to work with. Today, I was searching for building blocks to create what I had in mind, but with cloudy skies and dull tones, inspiration wasn’t going to come from outside. Instead, I had to dive into that deep, dark archive.

There, I found what I was looking for from a winter trip to Coney Island, on a decidedly different day and the other side of the country. The elements matched the mood I was chasing today.

I always loved that “Room with a View” feature on the last page of Traveler magazine back in the day, and this scene pulled me in the same way those images used to.
