Fiesta

Over the weekend, the annual cultural celebration Fiesta, or Old Spanish Days, took place in Santa Barbara. A tradition that began in 1924, it has evolved into a bit of a Spanish-style Mardi Gras, complete with empty egg shells filled with confetti and the largest equestrian parade in the country.

It was against this backdrop that I had the chance to shoot lots of moments over the three-day run. On our final night, we were sitting in a small wine bar just off the main drag. With the warm summer sun pouring in, the reflections of passers-by were projected across the restaurant wall like moving pictures from the ’20s.

Finally, a couple of riders, long off their horses, strolled into frame, and I was ready for the moment. A fitting end to several days of celebration and fun.

Viva la Fiesta.
