Head Shots

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been house-sitting for some dear older friends in Washington. They raised several grown children in this house and there is an entire lifetime of items collected here while living full lives overlooking Puget Sound. The basement alone is a time machine of collectibles from the early 50’s forward to today.

One such collection was a set of Barbie dolls completed with a logo traveling case, beehive wigs, and all the necessary clothing options to entertain a small child from that era or even today I would imagine.

Notwithstanding the waistline and body issues that have plagued this doll over years, today it was the blank stare that most captivated me as I picked through the wardrobe and in some cases headless bodies that were found in the case.

Not unlike some models I have shot over the years while shooting fashion that “off in the distance” stare feels way too familiar for my taste.

A fun chance to play around with some dolls today. Not something I was imagining I would have said when I woke this morning, but there you go.
