Winter Sailing

Sailors silhouetted against the backlit canvas as a fading winter sun drops quickly behind a knife-sharp mountain tree-line.

It’s rare evenings like these that keep people here in the Pacific Northwest. Rare indeed is a break in the clouds in what feels like endless months of rain and drizzle. It’s evenings like this that make me glad I live on the water too where the day’s final light greets welcome subjects and I find myself with a camera.

I seldom head out at this time of day when there is any noticeable direction to the light without a camera. It would be a sad waste of good sunlight and that’s something not to be taken for granted at this time of year.
