Island Cruise

Perfect timing for our final night’s anchorage during this two-week cruise as a picture of Santa Cruz Island from across the channel coincides with where we have dropped the hook this evening just 50 yards from the rocky shoreline of this beautiful island.

With no options the go ashore I’m limited to the deck space provided by our boat to find my inspiration. Fortunately, we have the evening and early the next morning to enjoy this wild coastline quietly bobbing at the end of an anchor chain as the island comes alive around us.

Birds find the feeding best in the hours when the sun is low against the horizon. In groups and alone there is nonstop activity as they take advantage of the best light and fishing conditions. I do much the same with a camera. Peacefully watching and waiting until where I am and what I can find comes into focus.
