Winter Boardwalk
Back east for the holidays and in search of a beach, the closest one today was at the end of the line—in Coney Island.
It’s not the same in the winter. More of a deserted theme park than busy weekend summertime diversion, it provided lots of visual potential. In the end, I settled not on the mothballed carnival attractions or boarded-up stores, but on the winter berm pushing over the abandoned boardwalk on a cold November
