Beauty and Culture

Traditional wood carving along the Columbia River.

Ending a long run here shooting on the Columbia River Gorge for a Portland, Oregon based client the last 10 days.

To say this place is beautiful would be a gross understatement. Each morning we are greeted with majestic visas while exploring both sides of the mighty Columbia River shoreline. The majesty of this area is only one part of the experience. Culturally, the region has a deep and active Native American influence as well.

The four Plateau tribes that inhabit this region have Art and cultural representation every place you visit. From ancient petroglyphs to wood carvings and traditional fabrics the culture lives in the Art that seems to be at every stop.

A simple carving from the Warms Spring Tribe was a perfect to rest a camera today. Credit to the artist who created this and the story it tells of the region and the powers that watch over this wonderful place.
