It’s the moment that makes the journey with it. The alignment of all the elements needed to make a good photograph. The setting sun. Steps cutting a curve across the horizon. Figures casually staggered along the decline.

Sometimes it’s a premeditated effort of discovery. Sweat and consternation. Other times pure dumb luck. Blindly walking around the corner. Only the unfortunate without a camera would not capitalize on.

The moment never lasts long enough. Never gives you adequate warning it’s coming and sometimes passes before you can raise the camera to your eye.
