One Bottle of Absolut Please.

One of the pleasures of travel around Bali and Southeast Asia in general are the roadside petrol vendors.
Simplicity in delivery is the order of the day here for these purveyors of gas by the liter.

What better way to make sure your customers know exactly how much they are receiving than to rely on a familiar standard of measurement. A bottle of Absolut vodka filled with gas. Never mind they sit in a wood rack all day in the hot sun feet away from speeding traffic.

There are several vendors that seek distinction by offering only Absolut.
Others try to reel in the speeding motor biker who’s tastes run to the darker spirits like Jack Daniels.

Me…. I always stop at the vodka stations.

No signs warning against the dangers of open flame or cell phone use. No vapor capture systems to protect the evening sky. No cards to swipe or annoying numbers to input with my zip code. Would I like a gas card at 21% interest?  How about a car wash for $14.95 with wax?…..I think not.

Just a quick stop, friendly smile, 60 cents and I’m on my way.
